The Postman Knocks?

Hello! I hope that you have all received your mail by now.

I hope as many of you as possible will be able to supply a family photo, as requested.

Please don't give me something precious (okay, all photo's are precious) as I won't

be able to return these photographs. We will be using them in multiple projects.

Another good reason for having a family photo at the beginning of the year, is that

if a child is missing his parent, he(or she) can go and look at the photograph: it helps!

We teachers are starting school tomorrow. It is a chance for us to make sure we have the

classroom ready and waiting for you, with colourful posters and welcoming signs.

More than that- your names will be in lots of places around the room!

See you soon happy

I'm back!

(Apologies to everyone for my absence. There are some incidents that have to take priority over work issues.)

I hope you are all staying dry and are not affected too badly by the current flood issues. It is fortunate that

the Logan area appears to be mostly unaffected. May we send our thoughts to those in Ipswich, Brisbane and

surrounding areas during these difficult times.

At my home, my husband and I have been busy digging trenches to divert the water away from the house and garage.

We made it in time and prevented the heavy downfalls from entering our buildings, so far happy.

Our cat has decided he wants to remain indoors (can't say I blame him); the dogs are fed up with getting soaked when

we walk them, as the consequence is having to be barred from areas of the house they normally have access to; the

chickens have learned to swim! They have kindly continued to bless us with 3 eggs per day thoough.

When school starts, I will be sharing information on how you can help your child to learn and practice skills .

In the meantime, you could visit the Sloan and Kemp Consultants website http://www.sloanandkemp.com.au/Resources/

as they have some useful brochures you can download. Examples are :

Activities for little hands and getting ready for writing.

On another note, I received three eggs from my hens today- I wonder who laid the 3rd one?

We will be learning phonics through the soundwaves program again next year. However, there have been some great changes!

All classes/ schools that booklist Soundwaves will have exclusive access to their new online resources.

What do we get? The site contains a number of resources which are designed to help teachers to make

the most of the Soundwaves programs. There are Digital Student Book Pages to project onto a whiteboard.

There are also Learning Objects such as Interactive word strips and match-up games to support each unit.

I can't wait to explore all these new and wonderful ideas with your child.
